Comparison of major forms of contracts
The JCT forms of contracts tend to be the ‘default’ setting for building projects. But what are the alternatives? And are they better or worse? What type of procurement and what form of contract is suitable for what sorts of projects and why?
Using the wrong type of contract can cause a whole range of problems. Come and find out how you can save money and prevent disputes - the easy way! We will look at the various types of JCT 2005, the NEC/ECC3, the ICE forms, IChemE forms, MF series, PPC200 and others, comparing their strengths, weaknesses and potential uses using both legal theory and real-life case-studies.
Speaker
Derryn Rolfe is a partner in BPE and head of the construction and engineering team. Both she personally and her team are recommended in the 2008 Legal 500. Originally an engineer, she worked in industry and in-house before moving to private practice in 1999.
